Nottingham Regatta Weekend Seniors and Masters Round-Up

The annual Nottingham Regatta weekend returned to Holme Pierrepont on 9–10 May, bringing together crews from across the country for two days of racing at the National Water Sports Centre. Saturday’s featured the full 2000m multi-lane course, while Sunday’s switched to the fast and often unpredictable 1000m sprint format.

Megan H and Martha U, rowing as a composite crew for North Staffs and Nottingham & Union, produced one of the standout performances of the day in the Women’s Club Double Sculls. After making the A final in the Time Trial, went on to finish fifth overall in a highly competitive field.

James Duncan raced in the Open Masters C Division B Single Sculls, taking second place in a hard-fought three-boat contest. In deteriorating conditions he stayed in touch throughout the race, finishing just 2.1 seconds behind a strong Nottingham Rowing Club sculler after an aggressive push through the closing stages.

Vanessa Duncan and Heather J secured second place in the Women’s Pair.

Charlotte Oneil and Martha finished third in the Women’s Division A Double Sculls in a competitive four-boat event

Nick Shaw and Katherine Barnwell lined up in the Mixed Masters C Double Sculls during some of the toughest conditions of the securing third place at the end.

Vanessa S, Katherine B, Lorna B and Katie S competed in the Women’s Masters B/C Quadruple Sculls, finishing fourth after staying in close contention with Trafford Rowing Club throughout the race.

Heather, Charlotte, Martha, and Vanessa race in the Women’s Division B Quadruple Sculls. The crew established an early lead and steadily extended their advantage through the middle of the course. By the final 250 metres they held a clear length over the field, and went on to claim victory by an impressive 19.1 seconds.

One of the most dominant performances of the day came from John R, Kevin C, James M and Timothy W in the Open Masters D Quadruple Sculls. The crew controlled the race from the opening stroke and crossed the line in first place with a commanding margin of 8.2 seconds over the rest of the field.
